We collect the information you choose to send us, and a small amount of technical information needed to run the site securely:

• Details you submit through the contact form: your name, company, role, email address, telephone number, sector, and the message you send.
• If you sign up to be notified of new Newsroom articles: your email address, and the date you subscribed and confirmed.
• Technical information logged by our hosting provider, such as your IP address, browser type, and the pages requested. This is used to keep the site secure and working.
• Anonymous page-view counts, through Vercel Web Analytics: which pages are visited, the referring site, and the general location, device and browser type. No cookies are used, and a visitor cannot be identified: each visit is recognised for one day only, by a one-way hash of the request that is then discarded.

We use the information you submit to respond to your enquiry, to arrange and carry out a site review, and to maintain a record of our correspondence with you.

Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in responding to enquiries about our services, and, where relevant, taking steps at your request before entering into a contract. We do not sell your information, and we do not use it for marketing without your consent.

We count page views to understand which parts of the site are useful and to improve it. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running and improving the site; the counts are anonymous and are not used to profile or contact anyone.

If you sign up for new-article notifications, our lawful basis is your consent. We send a confirmation link before adding you to the list, we email you only when a new Newsroom article is published, and you can withdraw consent at any time using the unsubscribe link in every email.

We do not sell or rent your data. We share it only where necessary to operate, for example with the suppliers who host this site (Vercel, which also provides the anonymous page-view counting) and provide our email and IT systems, under terms that require them to protect it. Enquiries submitted through the contact form, and email addresses submitted for new-article notifications, are recorded in a private Google Workspace spreadsheet and sent by email within the same Google Workspace account; they are not passed to a separate email delivery provider. We may also disclose information where we are required to by law.

We keep enquiry information only for as long as needed to deal with your enquiry and for our legitimate business and legal record-keeping, after which it is deleted or anonymised.

Two of the suppliers we rely on are based in the United States: Vercel, which hosts this site and provides the anonymous page-view counting, and Google, which provides our email and the records we keep of enquiries and newsletter sign-ups. Your information may therefore be processed in the United States as well as in the United Kingdom and Europe.

Where your information is transferred outside the United Kingdom, it is protected by the safeguards UK data protection law requires, such as the UK–US data bridge or the International Data Transfer Addendum, as set out in those suppliers' data processing terms.

Under UK data protection law you have the right to:

• Ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.
• Ask us to delete your information, or to restrict or object to how we use it.
• Ask us to transfer your information to another provider, where that right applies.

Because we rely on legitimate interests to respond to enquiries, you have the right to object to that use at any time. If you object, we will stop unless we can show compelling legitimate grounds that override your interests, rights and freedoms, or we need the information to establish, exercise or defend a legal claim.

To object, contact us at privacy@strattonem.com. You do not have to give a reason, and objecting will never affect how we deal with an enquiry you have already made.

Where personal data is used for direct marketing, the right to object is absolute: tell us and we will stop immediately, with no exceptions and no balancing test.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk. We would, however, welcome the chance to put things right first.
